This Trovatore is a delicious feast of unsubtle, hedonistic, and fast paced opera. High notes fling about, low notes are punched, middle notes are beautifully yelled. Everything is fat, rich, round, like a feast of BBQ ribs, Coca-Cola, sweet cole slaw, turnip greens, and chitterlings, with watermelon on hot summer day. Wow! I love it! It's got that International Southern feel to it; all sunshine, passion and romance. My kind of opera!
Tucci is easy on the eye and the ear! The best Leonora imaginable! Corelli is just a devil! Merrill's voice never sounded more beautifully uncultivated, Simionato's tone is like a hot chicken, white wine and buttered cornbread all in drippy glory, with a voice so fat she must have thrown at least 11 other children in the fire....all of them natural born. --Amazon customer
