Jussi Bjorling's second "Cavalleria," here with Renata Tebaldi and Ettore Bastianini, briskly and efficiently led by Alberto Erede. A terrific performance indeed!! This is a forthright, lusty account of this blood and thunder piece. Tebaldi is most moving, and the firm richness of Bastianini's baritone is beautifully caught. As always, Bjorling shows himself the most intelligent of tenors. The choristers are enthusiastic and accurate, especially when accompanying Bjorling's superb account of the drinking scene. This is well worth considering!! --Amazon
